Let's be honest - one of the main reasons for putting this shoot together was because I have been desperate to adorn Lily, my Golden Lab, in flowers. What began as a small shoot with just my dear furry friend in her majestic flower collar, turned into the most beautiful collaboration with a few of the industry’s best.
The change of season inspired the name for this collab - 'Whimsical Autumn Hues'. Witnessing the majestic avenue of Plane Trees I drive down every day, slowly turning from a vibrant green to a muddy yellow and then into a gorgeous, crisp brown is what inspired us. We imported golden mustard, spiced coffee, cappuccino and quicksand roses (some as big as your hand!) to create the golden pink hues. They were breathtaking!
Our main focus was the asymmetrical arch which was adorned with every rose and flower available to us. We foraged in the garden and found thorny, leafless branches, which added texture and a little drama to the arch.
The table setting was simple. An old rustic wooden table top with wrought iron legs was the perfect backdrop for the golden mustard linens, tall gold candlesticks and stark black slate under plates. The combination of mustard napkins on black slate is one of our faves!
Children playing with Lily, throwing petals in the air and smelling the beautiful scents of the bridal bouquet in the majestic Barker Manor gardens, were whimsical moments captured in time.
In KwaZulu Natal, the weather is at its best during the Autumn months. The days are cool, still and crisp, and the golden hues and textured leaves falling to the ground are a beautiful scene for a new beginning. We simply adore weddings in Autumn!
